Austin Safety

Police departments throughout the Austin area work hard to ensure our city is one of the safest in the nation. In fact, according to a report by SafeWise.com, the Austin Business Journal named six cities in the greater Austin region as among the 50 safest cities in Texas as of November 2013. The FBI’s Unified Crime Report also found that Austin ranks as the second safest major city in the U.S.

Officers strive to form relationships in the neighborhoods they serve. Many Austin communities have Neighborhood Watch programs aimed at reducing crime and monitoring any unusual activity. Contact your neighborhood association or local police department to find out if there is a Neighborhood Watch program in your area, or how to start one. Find your homeowner or property association by visiting our Austin Home Owner Association pages.
